The Washington Huskies have scored a big in-state commitment in the form of Owen Prentice. Prentice is listed as a guard and according to the 247Sports composite rankings, he’s the 12th-ranked guard.
Owen Prentice Makes Commitment to Washington
What Washington fans should be most excited about regarding Prentice is his ability to block in the running game. Prentice gets off the ball quick and plays very physical. On top of that, he’s athletic enough to have the potential to move around the interior of the line, if needed.
The main thing he’s going to need to work on is his pass protection. That’s why he projects more as an interior offensive lineman at the next level as opposed to projecting to be a tackle. However, if he continues to be able to get off at the snap like his film shows and keeps showing the desire to block in the run game, he will be a valuable piece at the next level.
Taking a Look at Washington’s Class
With this commitment from Owen Prentice, Washington jumps to 21st nationally. Prentice is the second offensive lineman to commit in this class, and he is now the second-highest ranked recruit the Huskies have committed, behind five-star quarterback Sam Huard.
This also gives them a stronger grip on having the third-ranked class in the Pac-12.
The Huskies now have 14 commitments in this class, with three of those being four-stars, and then of course Huard as a five-star. If Washington can finish off with a few more four-stars, they should finish comfortably inside the top-20 nationally.
