Penny Hardaway has been great on the recruiting trail as the head coach at Memphis, and he has struck again with a commitment from Moussa Cisse. This news doesn’t come as a surprise as Cisse has been playing his high school basketball in Memphis.

Moussa Cisse Makes Commitment to Memphis

Cisse is a top-ten overall prospect and is the second-ranked center. He projects to the NBA as a guy who won’t be a dominant offensive player, but will be a very strong and mobile defender, with the ability to be a good shot-blocker with his length.

He’s also a quality finisher around the rim, bu overall his offensive game has a lot to work on as far as shooting range and overall skill goes.

Looking at the Memphis Class

Memphis hasn’t had nearly the same cycle they had last year on the recruiting trail. However, that’s mostly because they haven’t had to. With guys like Boogie Ellis, Damion Baugh, DJ Jeffries and Lester Quinones set to return after being part of the huge class the Tigers put together the year before, they are not short on talent.

The Tigers also have Virginia Tech transfer Landers Nolley coming in, which will give them a high-quality veteran.

While last season didn’t work out as well as a lot of people thought it would after Memphis had the nations top class, there’s no reason for things to not work better for them this season. With the three returning players noted above and Nolley transferring in, the Tigers will be a much more veteran laden team than they were a year ago.

Now, they are adding a consensus five-star center, which was their biggest need still left. And at that, a center who has the potential to truly lock down the back end of the defense.
