The Toronto Maple Leafs have defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by a final score of 4-3 in Tampa, Fla. The Lightning opened the scoring with a goal from Nikita Kucherov. With that goal, Kucherov now has 30 goals for the season and the assists came from Lightning Captain Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman. Less than four minutes later, the Maple Leafs got a goal from Jake Muzzin. For Muzzin, that is his sixth goal of the season. The assists came from Jason Spezza and Frederik Gauthier. Towards the end of the first period, the Maple Leafs made it a 2-1 game with a Power Play goal from their Captain John Tavares. The assists on the Tavares goal were from Tyson Barrie and Auston Matthews.

In the middle of the second period, Pat Maroon scored for the Tampa Bay Lightning for his eighth goal of the season. The assists came from Cedric Paquette and Kevin Shattenkirk. The game was now tied. In less than 35 seconds Maple Leafs Captain John Tavares scored once again for his second goal of the game. The Maple Leafs would then make it a 4-2 game with a Power Play goal from William Nylander. Mitch Marner and Tyson Barrie got the assists on the Nylander Power Play goal.

In the third period, the Lightning scored a goal from Yanni Gourde to make it a 4-3 game. Barclay Goodrow and Kevin Shattenkirk picked up the assists on the Gourde goal. Maple Leafs goaltender, Frederik Andersen picks up only his fourth career win over the Tampa Bay Lightning and it was a big 4-3 win for the Maple Leafs. The Lightning has now lost three straight games and another loss for Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. The Toronto Maple Leafs play against the Florida Panthers on Feb. 27, 2020, and the Tampa Bay Lightning will play against the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 27, 2020.
