Kings defenseman Alec Martinez, who scored the Cup-clinching goal for the team in 2014, has been traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for two second-round draft picks, one in 2020 and one in 2021 that was originally retained by the Saint Louis Blues.
The Los Angeles Kings currently are in cap turmoil as they are right now in the process of blowing the team up. Big names like Tyler Toffoli, Kyle Clifford, and most recently Martinez have been shipped off to teams around the league for prospects and draft picks. Many critics say that these moves aren’t going to help the team since they aren’t getting any developed talent, others will argue that these moves will make Los Angeles a very robust team in the somewhat distant future.
Now that Martinez has been shipped off, all eyes turn back towards Rob Blake to see what other moves he’ll make before the trade deadline on Monday the 24th.
