Oregon has picked up a commitment from Bennett Williams. Williams is one of the top junior college players in the country, and one of the top safeties.

Bennett Williams to Oregon
This is a big pickup for the staff. With Avantae Williams, Luke Hill, Myles Slusher and Jared Greenfield already committed in the defensive backfield, picking up at least one more spot was a big deal. Now, the staff has that taken care of.
Rumors have surrounded the commitment level of Avantae Williams. So expect to still hear about other defensive back recruits. Most notably, five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo, who visited Oregon this past weekend.
It’s not hard to see why the coaching staff is so high on Williams. In 2017 at Illinois, he was a freshman All-American. Now, he will be bringing that talent to Eugene, hoping to find a better fit than he found at Illinois.
This commitment, paired with a decommitment by Jacobe Covington from Washington, has Oregon back at the top of the conference, according to 247 Sports.
Things will likely remain tight between Oregon and Washington all the way up until signing day for the top class in the conference. The difference, in the end, will likely be minuscule as Oregon tries to finish with the top class in the conference once again and possibly chase down another top-ten class nationally, although that appears unlikely.
Overall, don’t be fooled by Williams only being rated as a three-star recruit. He was a freshman All-American, and he’s continued being a great player at College of San Mateo.
