Vikings Extend Adam Thielen

Since being an undrafted free agent that was able to get himself a chance with his home state Minnesota Vikings, Adam Thielen had developed into a very productive wide receiver and over the past two seasons he has now developed into one of the top receivers in all of football.

Over the past two seasons, Thielen has gone over 1,000 yards, combining for 204 catches, 2,649 yards and 13 touchdowns. On top of that, he is coming off of a season where he caught 73.9% of the passes thrown to him and back in 2016 when he had 967 yards, he caught 75% of the passes thrown his way.

This deal between Thielen and the Vikings is for four-years, $64 million with $35 million guaranteed and frankly, I think that’s good value for the Vikings because of how reliable of a receiver that Thielen is and with the fact that he has become one of the best receivers in all of football despite his name not carrying quite the star power of some of the other top receivers around the league.

Minnesota is really thin on cap space but they are also in a championship window so it’s not surprising that they have paid Thielen, because with him and Stefon Diggs they have one of the better wide receiver duos in the NFL, so you might as well go all in with that.

And I know they missed the playoffs last season, but with it being Kirk Cousins second season with these receivers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them contending for the NFC title this upcoming season.

Minnesota has some questionable contracts on their books and look no further than the Kirk Cousins contract, but this is not one of those. I believe the Vikings got Thielen for a very good value given how reliable he’s been for them every week.
