Saints Extend Wil Lutz

It hasn’t been a very busy offseason for the New Orleans Saints because of their lack of cap space, but they have made a move to lock up one of the top kickers in the league, signing Wil Lutz to a five-year extension.

Lutz has a very strong leg, posting a career-long field goal of 57 yards, and he is very accurate, making 87 of his 100 field goal attempts during his first three seasons. He has also hit 96.7% of his extra points, making him a very reliable option for the Saints.

Where Lutz really excels is between 40-49 yards, where he is 32/36 in his career and he is coming off of season in which he went 11/12 from that range.

Although the Saints like the be aggressive on fourth downs, having Lutz on the roster at least gives Sean Payton something to consider on fourth downs as he has shown to be one of the more reliable kickers in all of football.
