Mookie Cooper Commits to Texas

Tom Herman is hoping to build off of a Sugar Bowl winning 2018 season and if the 2020 class that’s committed to Texas so far is any indication, Texas will be here to stay and last season wasn’t just one good season.

They added to an already impressive early list of recruits today by getting four-star athlete Mookie Cooper to commit to the Longhorns. Cooper comes from Trinity Catholic in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Cooper is on the shorter side being listed at 5’9″, but he’s really well put together being listed at 178 pounds. On top of that he is great at putting his foot in the ground and being a one-cut runner when he has the ball in his hands and once he makes a defender miss he’s gone because he has a level of speed that not a lot of players have.

He is a guy that could play a lot of different roles in an offense and him going into Tom Herman’s offense that really likes to use misdirection and is pretty creative with the running game should lead to Cooper getting a good amount of chances to run in the open field and make people miss.

Cooper is the highest-ranked recruit that Texas has committed so far in their 2020 class, of course it’s early, but this is a great pick-up for Texas because the skill-set of Cooper should fit perfectly into the Longhorns offense.
