Oklahoma has enjoyed an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions over the past couple of seasons and judging off of the recruiting this past season and then their recruiting so far in the 2020 class, that will not be slowing down any time soon.
Trevon West is the latest player to commit to Oklahoma and West is a three-star wide receiver out of Arlington, Texas.
West isn’t the biggest player, being listed at exactly six-feet tall and 165 pounds, but West is an absolute speedster and has shown the ability to stretch defenses from the outside and from the slot, meaning he should fit in really well to the Oklahoma offense where guys tend to be interchangeable in terms of being able to play on the outside or the inside.
He has also shown that he can be a threat in the return game, which is something you’ll always welcome because you can’t have enough guys on a roster that can make a difference on special teams.
While West isn’t ranked in the top-100 in the state of Texas, not being in the top-100 in Texas isn’t necessarily and indictment on the player, as Texas is one of the biggest hot beds for producing power-five talent.
This seems like yet another solid pickup for Lincoln Riley by getting another guy that should fit perfectly into the Sooners offense.
