This week Monday Night Football will take us to Houston for a battle of teams that are right in the middle of the playoff race in the AFC. The Texans are on a seven-game winning streak and are currently sitting atop the AFC South, but the Titans are at 5-5 and the Colts are now right behind the Texans at 6-5, so this is an important game for each team.

Titans offense vs Texans defense

The Tennessee offense has frankly been bad this season. They’re only averaging 17.8 points per game and when it comes to the passing offense they’re only averaging just under 204 yards per game. Now it is important for Tennessee that Marcus Mariota will be able to give this game a go after suffering an injury last week. If he were unable to play the offense would drop to an even lower level of production.

On paper this matchup favors the Texans heavily and I really see no reason why it won’t play out like that when the game is kicked off. Now one thing the Titans do have is a running game so if they can get that going that would help a lot, but Houston does have a good rush defense.

Texans offense vs Titans defense

The Houston offense is pretty balanced and that’ll be a fun matchup to watch because the Titans have maybe the best defense in the league. The key for the Titans defense will be to get pressure on Deshaun Watson because when the Texans offense this season has been stymied, it’s been when opposing defenses are able to get pressure on Watson and not let him sit back and try and find the targets he has, which is a group led by DeAndre Hopkins.

This will be the more fun matchup of this game to watch. If Tennessee can hold down the Texans offense they will have a chance of being able to get a really important road win.

Special teams

I’m going to give the edge here to the Titans. Ryan Succop is the better kicker of the two and Darius Jennings has been pretty good this season when he’s given the opportunity to run back kickoffs.

I believe with this being a home game for the Texans and with the way they’ve been playing they’ll be able to pull out a win. The Texans defense is pretty good and the Titans offense is not. Now sometimes the Titans offense can randomly produce a lot of points, but that’s not something you can always count on and going on the road I’m just not sure you can count on that. This should be a close game because of the Titans defense, but ultimately the Texans will have more offense.

Pick: Texans
