Thursday Night Football this week isn’t giving us one of the better matchups possible, but even with a less interesting matchup to most, this game does have some things to watch for.
Broncos offense vs Cardinals defense
Case Keenum has been shaky this season and as a result of that, they have relied a lot on their running game, and it’s been a solid running game that has featured two rookies in Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman.
Arizona hasn’t been as bad on defense as they have been on offense, so this is the more interesting matchup of units in this weeks game.
I think the Cardinals could hold the Broncos down enough on offense to give themselves a chance to win this game, but it will be important for them to stop the run on first and second down to force Case Keenum to try and make plays happen on third and long, and it will also be important to hold Denver out of the endzone when they get in the redzone.
Cardinals offense vs Broncos defense
The Cardinals have been as bad as anyone on in the league on offense this season. Josh Rosen has been starting for Arizona and that is something to watch for because he’s a rookie and in this one he will be facing a very strong pass rush.
The Denver rush defense has been pretty bad this season and that does give the Cardinals something to really try and attack with David Johnson. If Arizona can get the run game going it will significantly help out Rosen, because he’s been overwhelmed at times this season, but if you give him a running game it would help keep the Denver pass rush off of his back.
Watching Rosen in this matchup of offense vs defense will be the most interesting thing to me. Just to see if he can adjust protections to give himself more time and trying to get the ball out of his hand quicker.
I’m going to give the edge to Denver because Brandon McManus is one of the better kickers in the NFL
This game will probably be on the lower-scoring side of things and I haven’t been very impressed with either of these teams much to this point in the season. I think Denver is the better team and their pass rush makes me want to pick them, but with them being the road team in a Thursday Night game is going to make me pick the Cardinals
