Texas Tech vs TCU, 7:30 PM ET, ESPN
This will be an important game in the Big-12 race. Both teams will of course be coming off of byes as this game is a Thursday game. Texas Tech is as good this season on offense as they usually are, which is electric in the passing game and they’ll be going against one of the better defenses in the conference in TCU. I haven’t liked what I’ve seen from TCU lately and I actually did like what I saw from Texas Tech in the second half of their game against West Virginia, so I’m going to go with a Texas Tech win on the road.
Pick: Texas Tech
(7) Washington vs (17) Oregon, 3:30 PM ET, ABC
Oregon will be playing their third straight ranked opponent and this time it’ll be off of a bye against one of their rivals. Washington has had their number the last two seasons after Oregon won 12-straight in the series. These two teams are pretty even to me and I’m expecting this game to be on the lower-scoring side of things. If Oregon is going to win they’ll need to get a running game going at least to some extent. I’m going to be a homer and pick Oregon to win and the reason for that is Justin Herbert.
(2) Georgia vs (13) LSU, 3:30 PM ET, CBS
LSU is coming off of their first loss of the season at the hands of Florida and it won’t be any easier this week with them hosting Georgia. We assume that Georgia is one of the top teams in the country this season, but this’ll be their biggest test of the season with them having to go on the road to face LSU. This game should be physical and LSU can definitely play with Georgia because of their defense, but I think Georgia will have too much offense in this one.
(22) Texas A&M vs South Carolina, 3:30 PM ET, SEC Network
I think Texas A&M is pretty good this year and they’re coming off of winning over previously 13th ranked Kentucky. When it comes to South Carolina I don’t really know what to make of them because they’ve been pretty all over the place to this point this season. The Aggies are getting better every week in my opinion and just from what I’ve seen this season they are more reliable so I’m going to pick them to go in and get a road win.
Pick: Texas A&M
Michigan State vs (8) Penn State, 3:30 PM ET, Big Ten Network
Michigan State has been disappointing so far this season and now they’ll have to go on the road to Happy Valley and face a really good Penn State team coming off of a bye. Michigan State definitely has the ability to go in and hang in this game and potentially win, but I don’t think that’ll happen based off of what we’ve seen from each team so far this season.
Pick: Penn State
(10) UCF vs Memphis, 3:30 PM ET, ABC
This will be one of the biggest tests for UCF this season as they try and go unbeaten for the second straight season. This being on the road will also make things tough. If Memphis is going to win, they’ll need a huge game from Darrell Henderson, who leads the nation in rushing. I think UCF will have too much offense in this game, but if UCF is going to get upended this season, this is a game it could happen.
Temple vs Navy, 3:30 PM ET, CBS Sports Net
Temple has been a little disappointing this season, but as of late they’ve been playing better. Navy has also been along the same lines and for whichever team can get a win here, they could gain some momentum for the rest of the season. I think Navy will get the win because they’re at home and the triple option is really tough to prepare for in the middle of the season.
(6) West Virginia vs Iowa State, 7:00 PM ET, Fox Sports One
I’m calling for an upset here. Brock Purdy was great last week in the Cyclones’ win over Oklahoma State and they were able to win that game without David Montgomery. I also wasn’t very impressed with West Virginia’s win over Kansas last week as Will Grier was shaky and had a few turnovers. Now I think with them going into Ames for what might be their biggest test of the season to this point. This should be a close game, but I’m calling for a Cyclones upset.
Pick: Iowa State
(16) Miami (FL) vs Virginia, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN2
Virginia has been a little bit surprising this season and now they’ll get to host one of the better teams in the conference, who is coming off of an emotional win over their rival Florida State. This should be a good test for Miami and if they’re not careful, they’ll find themselves suffering a tough conference loss.
(15) Wisconsin vs (12) Michigan, 7:30 PM ET, ABC
College Gameday will be in Ann Arbor for this one and this has all the makings of a physical, low-scoring game that’ll come down to the very end. Based on the division each team is in within the Big Ten, this game is more important for Michigan and it’ll be by far the Wolverines biggest test since week one against Notre Dame, which that loss doesn’t seem bad at this point. I think at home Michigan will be able to get a win here because they’re a more well-rounded team and I don’t think Alex Hornibrook will be able to do enough to win this game at the Big House.
Middle Tennessee vs FIU, 7:30 PM ET
An underrated Conference USA game here. FIU has been solid this season and Middle Tennessee is coming off of beating two of the better teams in the conference to start the conference season in FAU and Marshall. A big reason for that has been Brent Stockstill. The quarterback for the Blue Raiders is very good and is the reason that they can go on the road and win this game. I’m actually gong to pick them to get this win because Stockstill has been playing so good as of late.
Pick: Middle Tennessee
(19) Colorado vs USC, 10:30 PM ET, Fox Sports One
If Colorado can go into L.A. and get a win here, there’s really no way that I can see them not winning the Pac-12 South. The Trojans are coming off of a bye, which will be a big advantage because the Buffaloes are coming off of a tough win over Arizona State. I’m not a believer in USC, but I’m also having a hard time committing to Colorado winning on the road in this one. I think I’m going to go with USC to win this game, even though I don’t have a lot of confidence in that pick.
