Players To Go On IR In Week Three

Falcons S Ricardo Allen (Achilles)

The Falcons have already lost their other starting safety Keanu Neal and starting linebacker Deion Jones for the season, and now they lose another one of their top defensive players in Ricardo Allen. They’ll be looking at turning to Keith Tandy to take over that spot, but these injuries to the Falcons defense are likely to take a big tole as the season goes on.

Packers CB Davon House (Shoulder)

This is a loss the Packers certainly didn’t want, but it’s one they can afford. They’ll still have Tramon Williams and Kevin King as their starters and House was a backup, but this will impact the teams depth in the secondary going forward.

Texans WR Bruce Ellington (Hamstring)

This is another injury that will impact a teams depth, but ultimately they should be pretty much the same on offense. They still have DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller. Keke Coutee will step into the starting role vacated by Ellington.

Dolphins DE William Hayes (ACL)

This was the controversial injury of the weekend. Hayes was going to sack Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and was doing everything to avoid his body weight falling on Carr and drawing a roughing the passer flag like we’ve seen around the league in the first two weeks. This is a tough injury for a 3-0 Dolphins team as he was one of the teams most productive pass rushers.

Saints CB Patrick Robinson (Ankle)

The Saints secondary has been more suspect this season than people probably anticipated they would be and this won’t help. The team will still have Marshon Lattimore and Ken Crawley to start at corner and they’ll have PJ Williams as someone who can step in, but this hurts the depth on a secondary that hasn’t been up to what people thought they would be this season.

Buccaneers DB Chris Conte (Knee)

Chris Conte was the victim of the stiff arm heard around the world on Monday Night Football by Vance McDonald and now he finds himself on IR with a knee injury. Definitely not the best week of Conte’s career. As far as for the Buccaneers secondary, they’ve been pretty suspect already this season and this won’t help.

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (ACL)

This is a catastrophic injury for San Francisco. A lot of the thought about them being a possible playoff team this season was largely on the shoulders of Garappolo and now he’ll be gone, all because he tried to get a couple extra yards instead of just going out of bounds. You have to admire him wanting to gain extra yards for his team, but it obviously wasn’t worth it and now the 49ers are looking at turning back to C.J. Beathard, and we’ve seen that before and it hasn’t ended pretty in previous chances. This, to me, is the dagger in the 49ers season and while I think they do have a nice defense, it’s not good enough to win a lot of games with Beathard taking snaps.
