Derrius Guice has a sprained MCL

Redskins’ second-round pick, running back Derrius Guice, left Thursday’s preseason game with a knee injury.

All signs point to the knee injury not being serious, and it really isn’t too bad as it has been diagnosed as a sprained MCL.

Obviously any leg injury is concerning, especially with a running back, but with the injury not appearing to be serious it should be a sigh of relief in Washington, but it’s still something to watch for going forward.

Andrew Luck finally sees live game action

Even though it was only two series’, it was good for the Colts, and really football fans everywhere to see Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck back on a football field in live game action.

Luck was sharp in the limited action, going 6/9 passing for 64 yards and leading two drives, 12 and nine plays respectively, that ended in field goals.

Luck also spread the ball around pretty well to his targets and even though the throws were mostly short and intermediate, it’s just good to see that he can in fact throw a football against an NFL defense.

Solomon Thomas leaves with injury

Not a good start to the preseason for the San Francisco 49ers as they saw four players go down with injuries in the first quarter of their preseason opener against the Cowboys, but most notably of those was 2017 first-round pick, defensive end Solomon Thomas.

The team announced that it was a head injury, which would lead you to believe it isn’t too serious of an injury, but for a team that’s found their quarterback and looks like it could be primed for a very good season, the last thing they want to see is a preseason injury to a starter.

Dez Bryant set to visit Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns have been linked to a number of different receivers as players they could potentially trade for, but Dez Bryant is still out there as a guy that could be of some value to whichever team he ends up signing with.

Bryant announced, via his Twitter, that he will take a free agent visit with the Cleveland Browns.

I’m not sure how Bryant would fit in with Cleveland, but he could be helpful at least on the field because he is a talent.

I’m not sure he would do much to help what seems to be a pretty weak locker room culture, and frankly I don’t think he’s a number one receiver anymore, and I’m not the only person with that opinion, but the man is talented and could certainly help whichever team he ends up with.

Vernon Hargreaves has a groin injury

Even though his career has been disappointing to this point, Vernon Hargreaves is set to start for the Buccaneers at one of the cornerback spots.

The injury is a groin injury, but the severity of the injury has yet to be determined and it’ll be something to watch as Tampa Bay is not very deep at cornerback.

Nothing new for Roquan Smith

Bears first-round pick, linebacker Roquan Smith, is still in a contract holdout as he and the team continue to haggle over the specific language in his contract surrounding him potentially losing money if he were to be suspended under the NFL’s new helmet rules.

General Manager Ryan Pace has come out and said there are ‘no new developments’ surrounding the situation.

In my opinion the Bears are botching this. They had a pretty good defense a year ago and now have the rights to a linebacker I really love as a player and think could be special and will only take their defense to the next level.

This will of course more than likely get straightened out, but the fact the Bears are unwilling to budge as of right now on something that’s really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, is not good business in my opinion.

But I guess that’s why some teams win on a more consistent basis than others in the league.
