Jordan Matthews released by New England
The Patriots signed veteran wide receiver Jordan Matthews to a one-year contract this off season, but yesterday he suffered a right hamstring injury and then he was released by the team. The team did place him on injured reserve and then reached an injury settlement with him, meaning that if he is signed by another team he will be able to come back and play this season.
With the departures of Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks this off season and with the four-game suspension of Julian Edelman, the Patriots will need someone to step up and fill that void and with the injury of Matthews the team is now turning to Eric Decker.
Vic Beasley moving to defensive end full-time
Last time Falcons pass-rusher Vic Beasley was a full-time defensive end was two seasons ago and he was the NFL leader in sacks.
Last season Beasley dropped weight and spent about 30% of his snaps at outside linebacker, and it didn’t produce much results as he only had five sacks.
Overall the Falcons defense was top-10 in points allowed last season and by moving Beasley back to defensive end on a full-time basis, they are hoping to improve even more and that Beasley can produce somewhat similar number to what he did two years ago.
