Four-star safety Trikweze Bridges commits to Oregon
Oregon started off the week by getting a commitment from a top safety that is located all the way across the country in Alabama. Bridges is a very lengthy safety, standing at 6’3″. He’s still a little bit raw, but clearly has the talent to develop into an all-conference caliber player in college. He’s also a really fluid athlete already for his size.
Four-star defensive end Stephen Herron Jr. flips from Michigan to Stanford
Herron Jr. has all the offers and for good reason. He has a really nice frame, with long arms that he uses well to keep blockers off of him. He plays physical so he is good in the run game, but he’s also very athletic with a good first step that helps him be a match up problem in pass protection.
Four-star guard Saleem Wormley commits to Penn State
James Franklin adds to his impressive recruiting class by snagging a guard that has really good size, is versatile and has good acceleration off the line. Wormley should be a guy that can dominate on the inside in college and he does a great job finishing off his blocks.
Four-star wide receiver Mycah Pittman commits to Oregon
Pittman is one of the top players on the West Coast and it’s easy to see why when you turn on his film. While not being the fastest guy in terms of top line speed he is a very fluid athlete and has a good ability to do damage after the catch. He also has very good and reliable hands.
Five-star defensive tackle Travon Walker commits to Georgia
The rich get richer on defense. Kirby Smart has done such a great job on the recruiting trail and looks poised for an SEC takeover when Nick Saban is finally done. Walker is a little bit undersized to play defensive tackle right now, but pound-for-pound he is very strong given his lack of weight. He also doesn’t get pushed around at all.
Four-star JUCO cornerback Elijah Blades commits to Oregon
Oregon continued their hot week by adding one of the top junior college players in the nation in Elijah Blades. Blades is an incredibly long corner, standing at 6’3″ and he has very good football instincts and athleticism that make it obvious why he was a top recruit.
Four-star cornerback Shyheim Battle commits to NC State
Continuing a theme for the week with the defenders that have committed, Battle has a really good frame at 6’2″ and he is a very fluid athlete. He also isn’t afraid to make tackles and lay some hits which should mean that he should help in the run game, which isn’t always the case for cornerbacks.
2020 five-star quarterback Bryce Young commits to USC
With J.T. Daniels reclassifying and being on campus this year, USC looks to be pretty set at quarterback. Young is the number one ranked dual-threat quarterback for next years class. Young is incredibly elusive and uses that to make up for his lack of height. With more seasoning he could be really special.
2020 four-star running back Darvon Hubbard commits to Ohio State
Hubbard is a bigger running back, but he is also very shifty for his size and what I really like about him is that he’s decisive. He knows he can make people miss in the open field, but will also make sure he’s getting positive yardage before trying to bust off a big run.
2020 inside linebacker Sergio Allen commits to Clemson
Allen has already filled out his frame pretty well for someone who hasn’t even entered his junior year of high school yet. He has also shown the ability to be versatile and even though he’s listed as an inside linebacker he can put his hand on the ground and rush the passer.
Four-star inside linebacker Vonta Bentley commits to Clemson
The rich keep getting richer, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He, much like Sergio Allen, has a frame that’s already pretty filled out and should transition really nicely to ACC football.
2020 four-star guard Jonathan Denis commits to Miami
Denis is undersized to be a guard right now, but he hasn’t even entered his junior year of high school yet. He’s been rising very quickly as of late and should continue to rise as he adds weight.
2020 four-star outside linebacker Demouy Kennedy commits to Auburn
This dude plays fearless and relentless. He’ll still needs to add some weight before playing in the front seven in the SEC, but his motor is something you can’t teach. He also has excelled on special teams, making him even more valuable.
Four-star cornerback Jeffery Carter commits to Texas A&M
Jimbo Fisher had a very nice week and Carter was just a part of that. He is one of the top cornerback prospects in the nation and he has elite athleticism combined with a 6’0″ frame.
Four-star wide receiver Joe Ngata commits to Clemson
Clemson went into California to get one of the top receivers in the country. He stands at 6’4″ and he has blazing speed. He has also shown the ability to play inside and outside and should be one of the next great Clemson wide receivers.
Four-star cornerback Tyus Fields commits to Tennessee
The Volunteers are rebuilding and need as much talent as they can get, and they got some right here. Fields is an intelligent football player and he has shown that he’s a play-maker.
Four-star wide receiver Isaiah Hazel commits to West Virginia
I really like this fit. Hazel is a good route runner that understands how to get open and knows where to sit down against zone defense. He also has a great ability to run after the catch. He’s a prototype of an air raid wide receiver.
Four-star defensive end Nelson Ceaser commits to Houston
Ceaser is a little thin at defensive end at the moment, but that doesn’t stop him from being really good against the run as he uses his hands really well. He also is able to use his speed to rush around the edge, but he’ll need to develop more power moves.
Five-star running back John Emery Jr. commits to Georgia
Another huge recruiting victory for Kirby Smart as he goes into Louisiana and pulls one of the top running backs in the country. He should fit in perfectly at Georgia as he is a running back that runs very well between the tackles and he is a great one-cut back.
Four-star offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd commits to Texas
Shepherd weighs over 340 pounds right now and if he’s going to play tackle in college he will certainly need to slim down, but he is more nimble than you would think and could be a guard that would be very athletic and good at pulling and getting into the second level of defenses.
Four-star safety Brendan Gant commits to Florida State
Gant has good size, but he also has some cornerback skills combined with his ability to play safety and that should make him even more valuable in college as someone who could be somewhat of a hybrid.
Four-star athlete Makiya Tongue commits to Georgia
Tongue is kind of a rare breed in the fact that he’s listed as a wide receiver and outside linebacker. I really like him as a receiver because he can make tough catches and he’s very shifty for his height, being 6’2″.
Four-star outside linebacker Rian Davis commits to Georgia
Davis is an incredibly versatile athlete that already has the frame to fit into Georgia’s scheme. He has good hands that he uses in the run game to get off of blocks and make plays.
2020 four-star wide receiver Bryan Robinson commits to Miami
Miami had a very good week in recruiting the 2020 class and that continued with the commitment of Bryan Robinson. He’s a quick athlete and play-maker that already has over 20 offers.
Four-star small forward Isaac Okoro commits to Auburn
Okoro has a nice frame and has a body that looks like it could really fill out and he can become an even stronger wing than he already is. He also plays really aggressively and likes to attack the basket, which is a good mentality for a player who’s still in high school to have.
Four-star small forward Greg Gantt commits to Providence
Gantt has long arms that he uses to be very disruptive on defense. He’s also good at cutting to the basket and finishing in traffic.
2020 four-star point guard Dwon Odom commits to Xavier
Xavier got an athlete in Odom. He needs to work on the mechanics of his jump shot, but the way that he can attack the basket and finish with monstrous dunks is incredibly impressive.
