Earlier today the Atlanta Braves announced a move to bolster their bullpen when they traded for Orioles reliever Brad Brach. In the deal they will be sending an international signing slot to Baltimore.

What the Braves will be getting
Even though Brach is in the middle of his worst statistical season since he became a full-time major leaguer in 2012, Atlanta will be receiving an experienced bullpen piece that has shown a high-level of consistency throughout his career, posting a career ERA of 3.16, even though he only has one all-star appearance to show for it.
Brach also has three playoff appearances, all in Baltimore, and didn’t surrender a run in any of those games.
This will likely just be a rental for Atlanta because Brach’s contract is up at the end of the season, but with Arodys Vizcaíno on the DL and possibly not being back until September, the Braves needed to bolster their bullpen.
What the Orioles will be getting
They’ll be receiving $250,000 in international signing bonus slot money. While this won’t excite fans at this moment as much as getting some actual prospects would, you can’t really judge this until you see how this money gets used. Some teams in recent years have made really good use of their international signing bonus slot money and their major league teams, or their farm systems have been rewarded well for that.
