The Diamondbacks have boosted their roster in a big way by trading for infielder Eduardo Escobar. In the deal they will be sending three players to the Twins, right-handed pitcher Jhoan Durán, outfielder Ernie De La Trinidad and outfielder Gabriel Maciel.

Escobar took a little bit to get his career going, but last season he began to really take off, hitting 21 home runs and driving in 73 runs, but this season he has kicked it up even more. He is hitting .274 this season with 63 RBIs and is leading the league in doubles with 37.
It’s unclear how Escobar will be used in Arizona, but he has the ability to play third, second and shortstop, although his worst defensive position is shortstop where he has -7 defensive runs saved. His best position is third base, which is the position he will probably play right away in Arizona because Jake Lamb just got placed on the 10-Day DL.
Escobar will be a free agent after this season so this will likely just be a rental.
The top prospect Minnesota will be getting is outfielder Gabriel Maciel. He is an athletic outfielder that has a good glove. He is also a switch-hitter and is really good at working the strike zone. He’s really raw, but has all the tools to be a good MLB player.
The other pretty well-thought of prospect that the Twins will be receiving is Jhoan Durán. He has struggled in single-a so far this season, but he has an electric fastball and with him only being 20-years old he still has a lot of time to get better.
De La Trindad is having a very good season in his first full professional season and with him only being 22, he should continue to improve.
